A Jaipur-based fashion house needed a 24-piece RTW line that authentically honoured block-print traditions while meeting the cost and lead-time expectations of modern retail buyers. Prior attempts had resulted in beautiful samples that died in production due to inconsistent artisan output and unscalable construction methods.
Working in-residence with the block-printing co-operative in Sanganer, I mapped repeat modules that could be standardised without losing the hand-made character. Silhouettes were designed around the natural selvedge widths to minimise fabric waste. Each tech pack included print placement tolerances and contingency colourways, ensuring buyers and production could reference the same document from first sample to bulk order.
Monsoon Reverie debuted at Lakme Fashion Week Preview and was picked up by three retail buyers within six weeks. The standardised tech packs enabled the manufacturer to complete bulk production 11 days ahead of schedule. The collection was subsequently covered in Vogue India's digital edition as a standout example of sustainable luxury production.
"I design collections that are as beautiful to wear as they are to produce."
